There’s a moment I look for at every ceremony. It’s usually subtle, easy to miss if you’re not paying attention. It’s the moment when someone in the front row nudges the person next to them and whispers, “That’s so them.”

As an independent celebrant, I specialise in bespoke wedding ceremonies that are written entirely from scratch, shaped around real people, real stories and real connection. Because a ceremony shouldn’t feel like something you’ve heard before. It shouldn’t sound like it could belong to any couple, any family, any story. It should feel unmistakably yours. I’m not here to just ‘deliver a service’. I’m here to get to know you and then tell your story with care, warmth and a little bit of magic.

I don’t start with a fixed template. I start with you.

No copy-and-paste paragraphs. No “slot your names in here”. Every ceremony I create begins the same way: with time, conversation and curiosity. I want to know:

• how you met, but also why it mattered

• what you admire in each other when no one’s watching

• what makes you laugh

• the people, places, pets and moments that have shaped your story
  

That’s why I build real relationships with the couples and families I work with, because truly personalised wedding ceremonies begin with trust, not templates. Not rushed questionnaires. Not surface-level details. We talk. We laugh. Sometimes we cry. We wander down memory lanes you didn’t expect to revisit and often uncover moments you didn’t realise were so important until you said them out loud. Because those are the moments that make a ceremony feel alive.

Writing from scratch is an act of care

For me, writing every ceremony from scratch isn’t a selling point, it’s a value. It’s about respect. It’s about listening. It’s about honouring the fact that this moment matters. Your ceremony marks a threshold: a beginning, a naming, a remembering, a farewell. It deserves more than borrowed words or generic phrasing. When I sit down to write, I’m not thinking, “What usually goes here?” I’m thinking:

• What does this moment need?

• What will feel right spoken aloud?

• What words will wrap around the people in this space?

I work hard to create ceremonies that flow, that feel natural, not rehearsed.
