Funeral & Memorial Services Across Yorkshire & the North East

Losing someone we love is never easy. Knowing how to mark that loss can feel especially overwhelming, particularly when there’s no traditional funeral in place. With more families choosing direct cremation, many are left without a formal moment to gather, remember, and say goodbye, which can make grief feel heavier to carry alone.

This is where a memorial service or celebration of life can bring comfort, connection, and space to honour a life well lived.

Whether you’re planning a full funeral service, arranging a memorial after a direct cremation, or creating a celebration of life in a setting that feels meaningful, I’m here to support you with care, warmth, and gentle guidance every step of the way.

Personal Ceremonies to Honour a Life – Wherever and However You Choose

A funeral ceremony, traditional or contemporary, offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect on your loved one’s life, share memories, and say a formal goodbye. I work closely with you and, where appropriate, your Funeral Director to create a service that truly reflects the person you are remembering: their values, their quirks, their relationships, and the stories that shaped them.

Together, we can include:

  • A personalised eulogy that gently tells their story

  • Readings, poems, music, and rituals that feel right for your family

  • Space for reflections and personal tributes

  • A heartfelt, meaningful moment of farewell

On the day, I arrive early to ensure everything is prepared and runs smoothly, allowing you to be fully present without worry.

Memorial Services & Celebrations of Life

A memorial service offers the same depth, storytelling, and connection as a funeral but with complete flexibility. If your loved one has already had a direct cremation, or you simply prefer not to have a traditional service, a memorial allows you to gather at a time, place, and pace that feels right for you and your family.

These ceremonies can take place anywhere you choose:
A favourite beauty spot, family home, garden, village hall, woodland, barn, hotel, or any location that holds meaning. Indoors or outdoors, formal or relaxed, the focus is on honouring their life in a way that feels genuine and personal.

Your memorial ceremony can include:

  • A lovingly crafted tribute or eulogy

  • Readings, music, and moments of reflection

  • Space for family and friends to share stories

  • Symbolic rituals such as candle lighting, memory boxes, or scatterings (if appropriate)

  • A beautiful, considered farewell that supports healthy grieving

Many families tell me that their memorial service brought them the sense of closure and connection they missed after a direct cremation, a chance to come together, celebrate, and remember.

What’s included with every service?
  • A visit (or online meeting) with your family to learn more about your loved one

  • Advice and suggestions for poems, readings, music, and symbolic rituals

  • Liaison with your Funeral Director where needed

  • Thoughtful writing of the ceremony and personalised eulogy

  • Early arrival on the day to ensure everything is prepared

  • A warm, compassionate, and steady presence as I lead the ceremony

  • A beautifully presented, printed keepsake copy of the service
